Family Medicine Center is proud to celebrate Dr. Graham Cates, who has been awarded the 2026 Trailblazer Award by the Medical Association of The Bahamas – an honour recognizing innovation, leadership, and lasting contributions to healthcare.
Dr. Cates’ journey began with a vision: to bring comprehensive, compassionate, and family-centered care to the people of The Bahamas. After completing his medical training and specializing in Family Medicine in England, he returned home in 2003 with his wife, Nurse Anita Cates, to establish Family Medicine Center.
What started as a small, single practice has steadily grown into a trusted, multi-location healthcare provider serving communities across Nassau and Eleuthera. Along the way, Dr. Cates has remained deeply committed to a holistic approach – one that emphasizes prevention, education, and long-term wellness for patients of all ages.
From expanding services and opening new facilities, to championing public health education and chronic disease management, his work has helped shape a more proactive and accessible model of care in The Bahamas.
The Trailblazer Award is a reflection not only of Dr. Cates’ professional achievements, but of the enduring impact he has made on countless patients, families, and communities over the years.
We congratulate Dr. Cates on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to continuing the mission he began – helping people live healthier, fuller lives.
